World Penguin Day 2026

World Penguin Day is the perfect excuse to celebrate some of the coolest birds on the planet—and we want you to be part of it! From their awkward waddles on land to their incredible swimming skills in the ocean, penguins capture hearts while also reminding us how important it is to protect our planet. Join us in celebrating by learning more about these amazing animals and taking small steps to support conservation efforts. Watch the below videos from BIOL 305 students educating us about penguins, learn more about the people working on penguins at the Center, and look for some new reels on our Instagram and Youtube pages.

With over half of penguin species threatened, it is vital that short-term conservation be practiced — not just long-term ones.
