Join Dr. Dee Boersma, Dr. Sue Moore, and Dr. Nigella Hillgarth on a cruise to Baffin Island! This will be an expedition from Greenland to the Canadian Arctic and into the Northwest Passages, from September 1 – 18, 2026. Sail in the same waters as Roald Amundsen and his crew of six during their 1903-06 successful navigation of the Northwest Passage.
You will begin as Amundsen did, on Greenland’s western coast, calling in Sisimiut and Disko Bay. Then, you will cross the sea to Baffin Island, and wend your way through the bays and straits that separate the islands of Nunavut. This is a land of gigantic fjords, icebergs, and glaciers that are home to walruses, humpback whales, and polar bears. The ship’s fleet of Zodiacs will bring you as close as possible to these fascinating animals. You will also have the opportunity to meet remote Inuit communities and learn something of their way of life. The onboard expedition team of naturalists will also bring their experience and expertise to bear in presentations on the flora and fauna, geology, history and culture of the places you will visit. The brochure detailing the itinerary and cabin prices is below. The Center will receive a portion of the ticket proceeds.
Begin making plans to join the Center for Ecosystem Sentinels in September 2026 on an extraordinary cruise Into the Northwest Passage.
